Iran Proposes BRICS Lab Network to Reduce Research Costs Through Shared Infrastructure
Iran has unveiled a groundbreaking initiative to establish a shared laboratory network among BRICS nations, aiming to slash research costs and enhance technological collaboration. The proposal, presented by Vice President for Science, Technology, and the Knowledge-Based Economy Hossein Afshin, leverages Iran's domestic laboratory network model as a blueprint for collective equipment usage.
The plan addresses the financial burden of redundant investments in high-cost research infrastructure. By pooling resources, BRICS members could gain access to specialized equipment that WOULD otherwise be economically unfeasible for individual countries. This strategic move aligns with broader efforts to bridge technological gaps between emerging economies.
During the BRICS Working Group meeting, the proposal received unanimous support from participating nations. The initiative marks a significant shift in how developing economies approach scientific cooperation, prioritizing practical cost-saving measures over isolated national investments.
